Question:

Im looking for a class IV hitch extender I only need a few inches that will work with a 5,500 pound trailer with 550 pounds tongue weight. Im using an Anderson weight distribution system as well. Does this hitch extension exist? Thanks

Hello Doug, thanks for reaching out. I am sorry to say that such an extension does not exist. We do carry extensions for a 2" hitch, but nothing that would allow you to use a weight distribution system with a standard 2" hitch.

The only potential option would be one of the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extensions like part # TLE1521. This would require replacing the trailer hitch on your truck with a TorkLift SuperHitch which has stacked 2" receivers. The extension is 21" long and is rated for 7,500 lbs towing or 750 tongue weight. It can be used with a weight distribution hitch. The 21" extension is the shortest they offer.

Let me know the year make and model of your truck if this is something you want to look into.

Hey Doug, did you end up trying the TorkLift SuperTruss setup for your truck? Your feedback could really help others looking for a short extension that still works with a weight distribution system.

@JesseM No. I was able to make it work out with a few minor modifications to the trailer jack and truck tailgate.
