Availability of Solid Stainless Steel Lug Nuts for Trailer Wheel

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/03/2025

Question:

I am looking for solid stainless steel lugnuts for aluminum alloy boat trailer rims. I do not want the type that have a stainless cap over a steel lugnut. Any suggestions?

Hey Kevin, we have solid stainless steel lug nuts available with the part # KALN1375S which fit the standard 1/2 inch diameter wheel studs. Have you had issues with lug nuts swelling up and being hard to get off?

Hey Kevin, did the solid stainless steel lug nuts work out for your aluminum alloy boat trailer rims? I'm curious to know if they solved any issues you were having with lug nuts swelling up.

@JamesonC I don't think they are going to work. The existing lugnuts for the aluminum wheels have a broader shoulder to engage more of the rim lug nut hole. The stainless steel ones look like they have a narrow shoulder. Probably work fine for steel wheels, just not sure about aluminum wheels.

@KevinY Aluminum wheels actually have steel inserts for where they contact lug nuts.

@JamesonC Thank you, I will take another look at the aluminum rims. I appreciate all of the information. Steel inserts make sense to keep the aluminum from being damaged.
