Why are the TireMinder Tire Sensors Rated for -4 Degrees and the Others are -40?

Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 08/28/2025

Question:

For people like us in cold climates, why are the operating conditions of the sensors only rated to -4 deg F ? Other brands are rated to -40 deg F. I would not be comfortable using them below -4 deg.

Hello John,

You would think that TireMinder would be a little more competitive with their testing to colder temperatures to keep up with their competition. I do not have a good answer on why the TireMinder i10 TPMS for RVs and Trailers w/ Signal Booster - 4 Flow Through Tire Sensors # TM38FR are only good to -4 degrees.

If you need something for colder temps, I would go with the TST TPMS for RVs - Touchscreen Display - Signal Booster - 4 Flow Through Sensors # TST94VR, these sensors have been tested to -40 F to 176 F.

Where are you located that you are in such cold temperatures?

Thanks appreciate the answer. I was wondering if the issue was just a typo. I live in Colorado We winter camp so below zero ratings are important.

@John I was curious myself, but I did confirm through TireMinder that they are (-20°C to -85°C) -4° F to 185° F. Not sure why they would not want to match their competition? We get cold here in Missouri, but not quite as cold as you.
