Looking For Replacement Wheel Studs For Karavan Trailer

Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 08/25/2025

Question:

I have a Karavan trailer where a wheel stud was broken and am having a hard time finding a replacement. If I were to provide a VIN number or something similar, would you be able to help me locate a part to purchase?

Hello Scott, thanks for reaching out. We may have a wheel stud that will work for you, but there is no way to use your VIN or year/make/model to look up what wheel stud you will need. Trailer manufacturers just are not that specific with their online literature, and there is no universal VIN database for trailers.

There are other ways to determine what you need though. One way would be with the casting number on the hub. I might be able to use that to look up specs, depending on what you have.

Aside from that, the best way to determine what you need would be to remove a hub and drive out one of the studs. I would need detailed dimensions like in the picture I provided. Then we just compare and try to find a match.

Let me know what info you have and I am happy to look into it.

I don't have calipiers for this. What would I look for on the face of the wheel hub. 6 digit number w/ a mix of letters and numbers ....something this that would be helpful so I know I have what you need. Thanks!

@ScottA Brake drums should have a number cast on the front. Idler hubs will have a number on the back. Dexter hubs typically have a 4 digit number like 8-201 or something like that. Not sure what brand your hubs are but it is typically a shorter series of numbers

@JesseM Ok, I had time to locate the number on the back of the hub to place an order for the stud and lug nut. What I found was the following; UFP H-1377. Hopefully, this is what I needed to get in order for you to help me locate a part number.

@Scott Yes that is the casting number. What you have are UFP (now Dexter) 3,500 lb hubs. Basically a standard 3,500 lb 5 on 4-1/2" hub. I did find a record of someone using the Trailer Hub Wheel Stud part # 7-122 and it working with the UFP H-1377 hub. I do suggest you remove the old stud and compare measurements to make sure this matches what you have. If you want to skip all that and replace the hub, they are readily available and not terribly expensive. They even come pre-greased so it would be a very easy swap-out. For the hub you can use the following: - Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!
