Question:
How loud is this heater inside the van? I had a cheap diesel heater before and it was like sleeping next to a lawn mower.

Good question, Stevin. The Velit diesel RV heater # VE66QV runs at about 20–46 watts draw depending on output, and noise-wise it’s much quieter than the budget knock-offs. Velit says the fuel pump is silent, but you may hear a gentle fan hum from the unit, but not the roaring “jet sound” you might have experienced. The insulated combustion chamber and smoother fan motor keep it more in line with a household space heater hum.
Are you planning to mount this under your bed platform or in a cabinet perhaps? Placement makes a big difference in perceived noise.
Anyone else care to share where they mounted theirs for best sleep quality?
