Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE
Updated 09/20/2021 | Published 09/19/2021 >
Question:
I just totaled my 2019 Durango and 2022 Grand Design Imagine 21BHE because the hitch I had from the RV dealer broke. I read your reviews in this hitch and want to make sure I can use it when I get a 2021 Durango and another Imagine. Will there be any issues with the installation of this on the Imagine? Can the RV dealer do it? Is this the right weight and tongue wait for this setup?

When choosing a weight distribution hitch you'll want the tongue weight of your trailer to fall towards the middle of the prescribed range of the system; it looks like your 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE has a GVWR of roughly 6400-lbs, which when properly loaded would have a tongue weight of between 600-lbs and 800-lbs. For this reason I don't recommend using the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET since you're likely going to be overweight for this system when fully loaded.
For your 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE I recommend using the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # RP66083 which is well rated with an 800-lbs tongue weight capacity. I really like this system because it's got 4 point sway control that is helped by gas shocks and pistons to help provide some of the best sway control on the market. This system uses a 2" shank that will fit in the receiver on your 2021 Durango and you could have the dealer install it if needed but you'll need to set it up each time you go on the road.
I've linked a review video of this system for you to check out as well, which shows how to setup the system yourself.
