Best Option For Replacing Duo-Therm AC Units On 2008 SuperNova Super C Motorhome

Updated 09/11/2025 | Published 08/01/2025

Question:

I have a 2008 SuperNova Super C motor home. It currently has 2 ducted ac units independently controlled by thermostats. Bedroom is an 11kBTU duo therm and the living room is a 13k btu duo therm. I would like to upgrade both to 15000 btu. Plug and play if possible to existing thermostats and ducts.

Hello Kenneth, thanks for reaching out. We do have AC units you can use to replace your Duo Therm units. There are no plug and play options though, so it will involve replacing your rooftop unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. Reason being, the new AC units all use a new R32 refrigerant per EPA regulations. These R32 units are not backwards compatible with older AC systems. There would likely be communication issues and in some cases it could even be a fire hazard.

That said, we do offer a 15,000 BTU unit that will work great for you. I recommend the following:

- Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR

This comes with everything you need to replace your AC system. You get the rooftop unit, distribution box, controller, start capacitor and thermostat. This will work with the ducted system on your RV.

Hey Kenneth, did you decide to go with the Advent Air AC system for your motor home? I'm curious to know how the installation went and if it resolved your cooling needs. Your experience could really help others looking to upgrade their AC units.
