Can Powered A-Frame Trailer Jack be Powered Straight from Tow Vehicle Battery

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/16/2025

Question:

I have a 20’ enclosed trailer that weighs around 8500lbs loaded. I need a new jack for it and was thinking about going with an electric jack. Couple questions I have can the jack be wired to run strictly off of vehicle auxiliary power when plugged into vehicle or what do you recommend? Also I’m looking for as short of a retract dimension as possible. Looks like most range between 9 through 11 inches or so when jack is all the way up. What do you recommend? TIA

Hey John, yes trailer powered jacks like the part # EJ-3527-BBX can be powered strictly from the tow vehicle's aux power source. That is why this jack has a 7-way power wire as it is designed to plug into a 7-way and draw power straight from that circuit.

9 inches is also the shortest retracted height jack we off like the part # EJ-3520-BBX.

Hey John, did the electric jack you were considering work out for your trailer? I'm curious to know if the setup with the vehicle's auxiliary power and the 9-inch retracted height met your needs. Your experience could really help others looking for a similar solution!
