Hello Jon,

I wish I had some instructions to send your way, but Lippert doesn't make the instructions for replacing this part. I would like to mention that working on Awnings can be pretty dangerous due to the tension, kind of like a garage door. If you do not feel comfortable installing the pin, please have a professional do the install.

Here is a break down on how to install the Replacement Idler Head Pin for Solera RV Awnings # LC27WD

Replacing the Solera # LC27WD idler head pin is a straightforward task if you follow proper safety steps. This pin secures the idler head, located on the non-motorized side of your RV awning, to the roller tube and support arm. Start by making sure the awning is fully retracted and locked in place. This is important, as the arms and roller tube may be under spring tension, and working on a partially extended awning can be hazardous.

Next, remove the idler head cover, if equipped. Typically, this involves removing a few screws with a standard screwdriver. Once the cover is off, locate the existing pin that holds the idler head to the roller tube. If it’s damaged or worn, remove it carefully. In some cases, you may need to remove a retaining clip or cotter pin first.

With the old pin removed, align the new # LC27WD replacement pin with the holes through the idler head and roller tube. Insert the pin fully, ensuring it seats correctly through both components. Then, secure the pin with a new or existing retaining clip or cotter pin to prevent it from working loose during use.

Once the new pin is secured, reinstall the idler head cover and tighten any hardware that was removed. Finally, test the awning by slowly extending and retracting it. Make sure everything moves smoothly and that the pin remains firmly in place. If the awning operates normally and there is no unusual movement at the idler head, the installation is complete.

Please let me know how the install goes. Do you have a big trip you are trying to get things all set-up for? If so, where are you headed?
