Looking For Replacement Leaf Springs For Single Axle Trailer

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/24/2025

Question:

Hey there! Trying to figure out which size leaf springs to get for our trailer and which pieces we need. The bolts are 26 1/4” apart, do the leaf springs need to be that exact size? This is a single axle flat trailer. The part where the springs connect to the axle I’m also curious about. We have a square axle running across, what part would be need to attach to that? Thank you!

Hello Richard, thanks for reaching out. Yes, the replacement leaf springs must be the same size as the current springs. There is a small amount of wiggle room like 1/2" or so with the single axle suspension, but we want to get the spring size as close as we can. The best practice is to jack up one side of the trailer so you can measure the springs unloaded.

Aside from the unloaded spring measurement, I will also need to know the weight capacity of your axle. This way we can be sure the spring is appropriately rated.

For example, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e22YR is 26" long and is rated for a 4,000 lb axle. The leaf spring would sit on a spring seat like part # CES28WR (typically pre-welded on the axle), and would bolt on using a U-bolt kit like part # CE23002.

I have linked a few help articles for you below.

I hope this helps. Hit the reply button below and let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Hey Richard, did you have a chance to measure the springs while they were unloaded and find out the weight capacity of your axle? I'm eager to hear how it worked out for you, as it could help others in a similar situation.
