What Is The Highest Load Rating Available For 225/75-15 Tires?

Updated 05/13/2025 | Published 05/06/2025

Question:

I currently run 225/75/15 6 bolt e rated tires on my travel trailer and I have a problem with blowouts. I use Goodyear endures and none of my blowout tires had over a thousand miles on them. I drive 55 to 60 mph. I am 900 lbs under max load range for the trailer. I would like to switch to 225/75/15 g rated tires. Problem being I cannot find a wheel in a 15 in 6 bolt that is rated for a g tire110psi. Can’t change to 16 in due to clearance. Any ideas.

Hello Roy, thanks for reaching out. We do have the 225/75-15 tires but nothing G rated. Our highest rating in that size would be the E range tires you have now. So we would not have a good tire upgrade option for you.

As far as the blowouts, are you running each tire at the max psi listed on the sidewall? If the tires are not properly inflated this could increase the chances of a blowout. Anything that could cause the tire to overheat beyond normal levels would increase the risk of blowout. Just thought id throw that out there.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

i can get the g rated tires but I cannot find a 15inch 6 bolt steal wheel that is rated for a g rated tire. Must be able to go up to 110 psi.

@RoyS Gotcha. So trailer wheels typically do not have PSI ratings. The PSI rating is determined by the valve stem. A 15" wheel can go up to 110 PSI as long as you use a high pressure valve stem like part # AM20906. The problem you will run into is the 15" wheels would not have the same weight rating as the G rated tires and generally you want those ratings to match.

@JesseM Does trailer sell a steel wheel that would be rated for a g rated tire?

@RoyS not exactly, no. Looking online at other 225/75/15 G rated trailer tires, they are rated for around 3,500 lbs. The highest weight capacity for our 15" 6-lug wheels is 2,860 lbs like part # AM20539. Again, our wheels can handle the PSI as long as the valve stem can, you just would not be able to use your G-rated tires to their full capacity. Our highest rated 15" 6-lug wheel would be an Aluminum wheel # SEN24FR or # AM22646 which are rated for 3,200 lbs.
