Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2023 Jayco Jay Flight 265 RLS
Updated 05/05/2025 | Published 04/30/2025 >
Question:
I would like to attach a receiver hitch to the rear end of a 2023 Jayco Jay Flight 265 RLS. I need to bolt and/or weld this to the frame so I can but a motorcycle carrier into it. The combined weight of the bike and carrier is about 425 pounds. If this is not possible is there a way to strengthen, replace, or reinforce the rear bumper to attach a receiver hitch to such as your MNT82VR? Thank you

Hey Kelly, for RV applications like what you have the best option is a multi fit hitch like the Curt part # C13702 which fits the standard frame styles that are between 18 and 51 inches apart. This can be welded or bolted in place too.
This would be a much better option than trying to reinforce your bumper.
This hitch has a capacity of 500 lb tongue weight as well.

Hey Jameson, My I-beam frame rails are about 70 inches measured to the outside of the flanges. Unless there is another set of rails that I don't see above the plastic covering, then I don't see any options out there for 70 inch wide frame rails. I've been a welder/fabricator for over 40 years. So, I'm considering taking off the stock bumper and fabricating my own bumper/hitch that will attach to the I-beams frame rails. What are your thoughts? Kelly
