Which Caliber Marine Slides For Boat Trailers Will Help Reduce Friction When Unloading/Loading Boat?

Updated 04/28/2025 | Published 04/24/2025

Question:

I’ve got four 6-foot bunks on my trailer. I saw that one set is 10 that are 3inch wide and 15inch long – or CA58AJ is smaller... how many sets do I need to fully cover the bunks?

Hey Leighann, do you know how wide your bunk boards are? Most small/medium sized boats have 1-3/4" wide bunk boards, or something close to that. If that's what you have, you'll need to go with the 1-1/2" wide option from Caliber # CA58AJ. If your boards are 4" wide which is another common size on some bigger boat trailers, you'll need to go with 3" Caliber Slides # CA76AJ.

Since you have about 24 feet of board, you really don't need to cover the entire length, but you'll want to get close for the best experience for releasing your boat or pulling it back on the trailer. If you have 4" wide bunks, I'd go with 2 of the # CA76AJ and you may have a little left over. If you have the smaller 1-3/4" wide bunks, I'd go with 2 of the # CA58AJ.

Now you'll have way less friction when loading or unloading your boat :)
