Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 04/17/2025

Question:

I’ve got a flat deck trailer I just picked up off of marketplace and need to redo all four brake assembly’s. But can’t find the correct assembly to fit the bolt pattern. It’s got alko axles on it. It’s got a four bolt pattern with a 3.75” spacing. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Caden, thanks for reaching out. AL-KO was bought out by Dexter quite a while ago, and many of the old AL-KO brakes use a bolt pattern that is now obsolete. The current standard 4-bolt brake flange is different, and I have included those dimensions for you below.

If your brake flange does not match this, I am afraid you will be out of luck for the brakes. The only option would be to replace the axles with something more current that uses a standard 4-bolt brake flange.

Hey Caden, did you find a solution for your trailer's brake assembly issue? I'm asking because it could help others facing similar challenges with older AL-KO axles.

@JesseM I found out exactly what you said. At some point I will have to replace the axles as there not making any parts for it. Luckily I did find correct brake pads and springs left over at a trailer store.
