Will Advent Low-Profile AC Unit be an Exact Replacement for Dometic AC Unit

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/04/2025

Question:

I have an rv and wanting to replace the Dometic not sure on exact model ac system on it, would this unit use the existing thermostat wiring that is already in the rv? Or would I have to fish in the new wiring for the thermostat. Thanks

Hey Jordan, thanks for reaching out!

The Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System # ASA98YR will likely need to be hardwired to your existing wiring, unless you have a 6-Pin connector like what you see in the attached image.

When it comes to connecting the thermostat, I've attached a link from the installation instructions for you to see what functions it will need to connect to. I'm not sure what you have with your Dometic, but you can at least match the functions together or check to see if your system has these functions so you know if this will work or not.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey Jordan, how did things go with the Advent Air system and your existing thermostat wiring? Were you able to match the functions from your Dometic setup to make it work? Your update could make it easier for others replacing their RV AC.

@JonG I haven’t gone forward with this project yet, so no new info or updates. But I did add an advent ductless system to the master bedroom on my camper and that went flawlessly and the unit has performed well so far!
