What Is The Best Lubricant To Use For A Stuck Pins On B&W Tow & Stow Ball Mount

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 03/26/2025

Question:

Hello, just have a quick question. I have the tow and stow hitch and when I go to take out the pins to rotate, move or adjust them, two out of the three I have to hit with a hammer to get them to pull out. Is there anything I can maybe use as a lubricant to help them come out and go back in more easily?

Hello Luciano. thanks for reaching out. The best thing to use for this would be some dry lubricant like powdered graphite. A lot of ball mount manufacturers recommend this because it will work its way through the various parts of the ball mount, but not so thick that it will become sticky and attract dirt. WD-40 would not be recommended because it would attract dirt and grime and may eventually make the problem worse.

Put a few drops on the pins

Hey Luciano, did the powdered graphite help free up the pins on your Tow & Stow hitch? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue.
