Rear Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6

Updated 03/31/2025 | Published 03/23/2025

Question:

2016 Subaru Outback 3.6, 3k lbs tow: Presently I do not trailer but maybe 2x/yr (mulch about 3 miles + transporting misc boat gear to sailboat 4 hrs north on the highway= aluminum trailer). However....yearly we travel out west(3 days@1 way) to ice climb + hike. We load the cargo & Thule tube on top with misc gear & supplies for a 6 wks trip. Each ice gear bag, x2,=50lbs (100lbs total), misc bags total another 100 lbs total + our 2 bodies(230 lbs total). At some point I would consider towing a small trailer, teardrop. Presently, tho, when I load my car up for our big trips I worry about rear sag and what it is doing to my rear suspension in the long run. I try to load the ice gear over my axle area but still....I see rear drooping when loaded. Is the sumo spring what you would recommend or do you suggest another product? Thank you

We do have rear suspension enhancement that fits your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon with the SumoSprings # CSS-1125R which will do a great job providing additional suspension support when towing to prevent sag. That sounds like a pretty awesome trip you do every year!
