Will the etrailer Hitch # e87AR Get in the Way of My Hands Free Tailgate Kick Sensor?

Question:

Does installing this hitch etrailer Class 3 Trailer Hitch - 2023 Mazda CX-9 on a Mazda CX-9 impact the usability of the kick sensor to open the trunk? I have read conflicting things online.

Hello Zack,

Great question, we get this question quite often about the hitches. With any aftermarket hitch there is the possibility of it covering the sensor the hands-free tailgate. The good news is that you will still be able to use the sensor, but you might have to move your foot to the side of the receiver to find that "sweet spot." I attached a video where my buddy Ryan did an install for the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e87AR on a 2021 Mazda CX-9, if you skip ahead to exactly 1 minute he will bring up the kick sensor and will show you how it still works.
