Can the Furrion Chill Cube Be Used to Replace a Ducted Dometic AC

Updated 07/30/2025 | Published 03/11/2025

Question:

I was thinking of replacing my A/C unit from a ducted Dometic to the Furrion Chill Cube. Do they have a kit for that? would it still work off of the wall thermostat?

Hey Trent, yes you can replace your existing ducted Dometic AC with the Furrion Chill Cube # FR99TD. This is going to be a completely new system since they don't have any units that will work with your exisiting Dometic setup.

This kit includes the 18K Btu roof unit, the air distribution box, and thermostat for a complete overhaul. If there is anything else I can help you with, please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

Bryce, I have an older beaver marquee with three dometic ACs using the five button dometic thermostat. I want to install the chill cube my biggest problem it's not designed to have the air distribution box as there's not room to accommodate it. Is there anyway I can Make this work

@Brian Unfortunately the Furrion Chill Cube units require the air distribution box in order to work. It would be a good replacement for the Dometic units, but you would need to find a way to mount the air distribution box. It requires a 14-1/4" x 14-1/14" cutout to fit in and mounts directly below where the AC unit sits on the roof. Is there no space inside where the AC unit would sit on the roof?

I just installed the furrion chill cube with the thermostat conversion package. My old dometic furnace got it's +15v and-15v from voltage converter in the air return of the dometic ac. There's not a -15 volts circuit, to my knowledge, in the furrion conversion hardware. Is the any schematics or instructions on this type of conversion?

@KyleC No, I am sorry I do not have a schematic or instructions on how to convert your Dometic furnace. I recommend reaching out to Furrion directly or a RV licensed electrician.

Bryce, I having trouble following your response. Currently my Keystone Montana High County has a ducted system which is connected to the existing Dometic Blizzard NXCT 15K, and my question is that it appears this unit has a air distribution box which would require cutting a hole in the ceiling of the RV living room? Would this modification still allow for air to also flow through the ducted vents as well?

@ChrisC Yes the Chill Cube unit does require a distribution box mounted to the ceiling. Typically the Chill Cube would only be used on RVs that are already set up this way. If your RV does not use a distribution box, the best option would be a direct replacement for the current unit. Otherwise, like Bryce said, you would be completely overhauling and redoing everything.

Some of same question. But add in furnace control. Currently have 3 a/c Dometic penguins OE 2006 holiday rambler imperial. Single therm (ccc) runs front ac and front heat zone on AquaHot. Second therm (ccc) runs middle ac and rear ac when washer is not on And 2 rear heating zones Easiest way to keep AquaHot zones and therm functional ?

@Jeff For your front single zone you'll need the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System item # FR45TD because it has the thermostat you'll need to control the furnace along with the replacement AC and air distribution box. For your middle and rear AC units you'll need the following parts since we're out of the kits: Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Multi Zone - 15,000 Btu - Black - R32 item # FR45TD Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Roof Air Conditioner Unit - 15,000 Btu, Black - R32 item # FR58TD Multi Zone Controller for Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner Setup - R32 item # FR53TD Replacement Air Distribution Box for Furrion Chill RV Air Conditioners - Electric Control - R32 item # FR68TD

@JerredH. Does this kit use existing tubes for condensate drainage

@Jeff No, it does not or at least not intentionally. Furrion has the most drain holes out of all of the units that I've seen to help spread out the condensation so that it's not a stream and can evaporate before rolling off of the roof. The condenser unit is going to leak water onto the roof of your RV as the system runs.
