Recommended Replacement Winch Stand for a Boat Trailer

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/18/2025

Question:

I need to replace the winch stand post assembly on the trailer for my 2015 Nitro Z7 bassboat. What is the min lb rating I need? The boat dry weight is 1,700lbs. Package weight 3,200lbs. Max. Person, Motor and Gear Weight 1,350lbs. Also, any suggestions on a winchpost stand assembly from your site that would work for my boat?

Hey Matt, if you have a standard 2" trailer tongue then the CE Smith Winch Stand # CE31013G will work fine as a replacement. This does not have a weight capacity, but it is made of 12 gauge steel which is pretty strong stuff.

Our contacts over at CE Smith have confirmed in the past that this stand can with stand over a 1,000 lbs easily, but the weight of the boat won't be resting entirely on the post so it can handle much more than that.

Take your boat to any cool places? I used to build boats for a living so I always enjoy hearing what people are doing with theirs! Let me know if you need anything else in the comments and I'd be happy to help!

Hey Matt, how did the CE Smith winch stand work out for your Nitro Z7 trailer? Your update could make it easier for the next person looking to replace their winch post.
