Recommended Mounting Locations For A 2 Gallon Firestone Air Tank

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/17/2025

Question:

Do you have a recommended location for the 2 gal tank on the F49VV. Ive got a slide in truck camper so inside the bed is not an option. I have a 2024 F350 4WD Single rear wheel Axle.

Hi Dave,

Firestone has a no-drill mounting bracket # F2530 to mount the air tank from the # F49VV and it's pretty typically to just mount it to the outside of the passenger side frame rail right around where the cab and bed meet. If you have the space you could mount the tank to the hat channel under the bed. Jake made a video on his Ram doing this, which I've attached below, that you can use as a reference if this interests you.

Personally, I'd go with the hat channel mounting if you have the space to help protect the air tank and the lines running to it. Since you have an in-bed camper I'm assuming you might also off-road so mounting it to the outside of the frame rail could potentially leave it vulnerable to any rocks or brush that could kick up and hit it.

If you want to send in some pictures of your F-350's underbelly I could take a look and give some more specific recommendations.

Hey Dave, how did the hat channel mounting option work out for your F-350 and the Firestone air tank? Your setup could really help others with slide-in campers looking for a good mounting spot. Sharing what you found might guide others with similar trucks.
