Brake Controller with Custom Harness Recommendation for 1998 Ford E-350
Updated 02/16/2025 | Published 02/11/2025 >
Question:
I need a recommendation for electric brake controller. My towed is a 6x10 aluminum cargo trailer that is 2360lb fully loaded. Single axle with N electric brake kit installed. Tow is 1998 Ford E350 with stock wiring harness to 7 pin rear connector. I believe I found the under dash plug, left side, shin high, behind dash kick panel female, brown, 5 pin with Blu, Blk, Brn, Grn, Lt BLu/Blk wires. If that is indeed my connection point, what simple controller have yall had good luck with? Something plug/play with a custom harness? Comments always appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Hey Steven, for a brake controller that would work great in your 1998 Ford E-350 we have the Tekonsha Voyager part # TK32UR which comes with a custom fit harness designed for the plug you found under your dash. It will plug right in and give you a brake controller that is designed to sense how hard you apply the van brakes and apply the trailer brakes with same intensity. This is a solid controller that's pretty simple overall that we've had great luck with for several years. What kind of trailer will you be towing?

Jameson C, I checked it out and it looks good. But I looked some more, and really like the dash mounted knob style. Would that be the TK26BR? Is it also plug and play with my '98 E350? Thanks, Steve
