Would the Thule Hitch Extender or other extender allow for the tailgate on a f-150 or Ram 1500 to fully open with this rack?

Hey Brad, yeah you would need a hitch extender with the Thule ReVert bike rack part # TH83VA to allow the tailgate of a full size truck to open. For that we have the Gen-Y Hitch Extender part # e88YR which is 8 inches long. What kind of bikes will you be hauling?

I would be hauling 6 mountain bikes, each around 30 lbs.

Thanks for the pictures. What you have is a Yakima Holdup bike rack #Y02443-2. The correct replacement tilt pin then would be the part #Y39FR.
