Is Global Link Keyed Alike RV System Safe from a Master Key
Updated 01/22/2025 | Published 01/21/2025 >
Question:
My Alliance 2024 5th wheel came with a G391 based keyed alike system. I am in the 90 combination system. Can I consider this a safe system, or do I need to consider moving to another platform, such as Bauer? I can purchase a master key online, so anyone else can too. This is a bit unnerving. Is the Bauer system susceptible to master key intrusion as well? What do you suggest? Thanks.

Hey Bill, thanks for reaching out!
You'll be just as safe with the Global Link G391 Key # 295-000079 as you would with any other RV-style locking door handle setup so I recommend sticking with it.
When we first saw that the master key was available online it was a bit alarming for us as well, but if you look at the fine print of the Global Link website, you'll see that only verified dealers and locksmiths are able to get the key from them, and they vet the companies they sell it to. I know there are a handful of places online (like Amazon) that say they have a master key available, but that wouldn't be something Global Link is okay with.
The only way for the average person to have a "master" key is to buy literally every key from Global Link and go through the painstaking process of trying each key on your RV until it unlocks. And by the time you get to someone desperate enough to do that, you're at the level of people who aren't afraid to get more creative with how they get into a 5th wheel...if you know what I mean.
If that still makes you feel uneasy, the best option for you to take would be to install something more unique on your RV like a house-style of lock that isn't mass-produced with a finite number of key options. I don't have any leads on a place that does this, but that would be the only other thing to do.
Does that bit of information about the master key help at all?
