Parts Needed To Swap From A Furrion Manual Control AC Unit To A Wall Thermostat Control

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/19/2025

Question:

We have a FACR13HESA-BL furrion chill ac unit with a manual control air distributor. Is there a way to upgrade this unit to thermostat control for single zone? If so, will it cycle the compressor AND fan off on the auto setting? Thank you

Hi Annette,

To swap over to a wall mounted thermostat you'll need the Replacement Air Distribution Box for Furrion Chill RV Air Conditioners - Electric Control # FR57PR and Replacement Premium Wall Thermostat # FR33PR. You'll swap the zone controller # FR43PR from the old air distribution box to the # FR57PR and then run four 16AWG wires # 16-1-1 from the controller to wherever you want the thermostat to sit. I typically just use bonded 4-wire # 16-4B-1 since we have a lot of it here and it's easier to pass through the walls since all the wires are secured together.

As for your question on the auto settings, you'll actually want to have the fan run constantly on either Low or High and then set the temperature and place it on auto to have the condenser kick on and off as needed. Cold air can sit up in the roof if the fans aren't forcing it down and throw off the temperature reading causing the unit to not kick on when it should and leaving you with a hot camper. The instructions say that the auto mode would control both but there's a ton of end users all facing this same temperature issue when using auto mode so I'd make sure your fans are constantly on to properly cool the trailer.

If you have any other questions just let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Hey Annette, how did the upgrade to the thermostat control go on your Furrion Chill AC unit? Did keeping the fan running constantly help keep the temperature more even in your camper? Your update could make it easier for others working on the same setup.
