Is There An Easier Way To Run Thermostat Wires Thru The Wall Of My RV?

Question:

Hey. I’m upgrading my manual control furion to be used with a thermostat. I followed the info here and purchased the correct controller and surround. But any insight on how to get the wires to the thermostat? It’s a jayco 171bh. There are two wires going to the old thermostat and I’ve no idea how to follow them without ripping the walls apart which would be counter productive. Help!

Hello Adam, thanks for reaching out. A wire fishing tool might help with that but running thermostat wires in an RV can definitely be tricky. There is really no other tips or tricks I can offer other than a fish tool so if that doesn't do it, the only way is to open up the walls.

I fished some wire through. I now have the two existing wires from the thermostat from the propane heater. How do I go about wiring these into my new furrion thermostat along with the other 4 wires from the controller?

@Adam The wires on the controller are labeled and there should be a sticker on the back of the thermostat indicating which wire goes where.

@JesseM Hi Jesse Finally getting around to finishing this project. The thermostat I have isn’t labeled. So I don’t know which wire goes where. Also I have a red and a white wire from the old thermostat that was used for the propane furnace. Now that I have fed the wires through. How do i hook up the previous furnace wire into the new fusion thermostat?

@Adam There should also be a diagram in the instructions that lays out the wire functions for the thermostat. From left to right it goes "B,A, 12v, Ground" You can see the diagram here: https://www.etrailer.com/question-550307.html
