Can The Yates Keel Pad YR1203SB Be Used To Cover V-Block On Boat Trailer?

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 12/31/2024

Question:

I have a front V-Block on my boat trailer and the PVC plating that came on it is all cracked up. Will this product work to cover the v-block made out of wood or is it too soft? I added a picture of the cracked pvc plating which I can’t find anywhere. Please don’t mind the bracket. I tried to add a roller to the bottom of the V and the weight twisted the cross member.

Hello Craig, thanks for reaching out. The Yates Keel Pad # YR1203SB can absolutely be used to cover the V-block on your boat trailer. As long as the block is indeed 3" wide it will work great. The thermal-plasticized rubber is a lot stronger than regular rubber, and will undoubtedly be more durable than the PVC plating. It should be easier on the hull of your boat too.

Hey Craig, how did things turn out with the Yates Keel Pad on your boat trailer’s V-block? Did it give you the sturdier surface you were hoping for compared to the cracked PVC plating? Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same issue.
