Hello what would be the best way to carry a bike on the FrontRunner Slimline Rack? just regular mountain bike or road bike Thanks

Hey Bill, thanks for reaching out. FrontRunner Actually makes a fork-mount bike rack specifically for the Slimline platform rack, the Pro Fork-Mount Bike Rack for Front Runner Racks # FR45ZV. This mounts to the top channel on the Slimline rack. It has a standard 9-mm fork mount.
If you don't want to use the fork mount, take a look at the Pro Bike Rack for Front Runner Platform Racks # FR28ZV which is a wheel mount instead of fork mount. This will work with any wheels 24"-29" in diameter.
