Replacement Suspension Components for Anvil 8.5 ft by 20 ft Trailer

Published 12/19/2024

Question:

I have an Anvil 8.5x20ft 9990gvwr enclosed with double eye leafs/5200lb axles. The current suspension has an EQ-104 equalizer, 2-5/8inch shackles, and what appears to be 26inch leaf springs eye to eye, could be flattened down though. All spring hangers/equalizer hanger are 3-1/4inch height and hanger spacing is 29inch on center. I want to replace the shackles/equalizer and bolts/bushings to prep for next race season, but i am having a really hard time finding 2-5/8inch HD Shackle straps/wet bolt kit to direct swap what i have. Also it appears the leaf eyes have hit the frame quite a few times this year. Will this Dexter kit work even though the shackle straps are only 2.25inch as opposed to the original 2-5/8? Also looking for new double eye leafs as well, I only see a dexter option for 26/5200lb Calling Anvil was no help. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hey Shaun, we have the exact replacement for your equalizer with the # TREQ104. But for shackle straps we only have 2-5/8 inch shackles in a non-hd configuration like the part # 115052. So what I would go with instead is the Dexter HD equalizer kit part # K71-359-00 which comes with everything you are looking for but the HD shackles are a little shorter at 2-1/4 inches. This would not cause any problems though since a slightly shorter shackle strap just ever so slightly changes the suspension height.

So this kit comes with equalizers, HD shackles, wet bolts, bushings, and nuts.

For 26 inch long leaf springs best option would be a 6k axle spring like the part # e94SR. It's a little overrated but not enough to cause any issues.

Thank you, I was looking at that Dexter kit and think that's what I will do. Hopefully I do not have any shackle flipping issues. Appreciate the reply!
