Features to know about

Level Ride You Can Count On: Matched Hanger Heights and 8" Equalizers

Uneven suspension makes towing rough. This kit keeps things level and smooth with front and rear hangers that stand 2-1/2" tall and center hangers that reach 5-7/16". The 8" long straight equalizers tie the setup together so the springs share the load evenly and absorb bumps instead of transferring them straight to the frame. The result is a balanced ride that tracks true mile after mile.

Built Right for Tandem Axles: Handles 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb Axles

Whether you’re setting up a new tandem trailer or replacing worn parts, this kit is ready to handle real weight. It’s designed for use on trailers with tandem, 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb axles. The layout achieves 4" or 4-1/2" of clearance between the frame and axle, depending on axle size, so you get the right gap for proper travel and no bottoming out.

Everything You Need for a Solid Mount: Complete Hardware Included

No guesswork here. The kit comes with (4) 2-1/2" front and rear hangers, (2) 5-7/16" center hangers, (2) 8" equalizers, and all the hardware to connect it—(8) 2-5/8" shackle straps, (12) 3" x 9/16" shackle bolts, (12) 9/16" locknuts, (2) 3-1/2" x 3/4" wet equalizer bolts, (2) 3/4" castle nuts, (2) 2-1/4" cotter pins, and (2) 1/8" MPT grease zerks. Everything fits together cleanly so the suspension moves freely without play or squeaks.

Greaseable Connections Stay Quiet: 3/4" Wet Equalizer Bolts and Zerks

Creaks and clunks can ruin a day on the road. The included 3/4" diameter wet equalizer bolts have grease fittings built in, letting you lube the pivot points through the 1/8" MPT zerks. This keeps the movement smooth, prevents wear, and makes future maintenance fast and mess-free.

Straightforward Setup for DIY Builders: Clear Measurements and Fitment

Getting the spacing right is simple with the included hanger dimensions and chart references. With equal 2-1/2" front/rear hangers and 8" equalizers, you can follow the measured layout for proper axle alignment and ride height. It’s a direct-fit design that makes home installs practical for anyone comfortable turning a wrench.

I was rebuilding the suspension on one of my trailers and needed tbis hardware. It was shipped fast and with a little measuring and welding it was installed with ease.

by:

Product was as advertised. I did have to modify the center one as I was unaware there are high/low equalizers. I ended up drilling a new hole and it worked fine. 10/10.

by:

All items received as expected. In new condition. The etrailer website was easy to find what we needed and easy to click through.

etrailer packaging was great which contained the leaf springs. RedNeck Trailer packaging was good, but not as good as etrailer.

High quality hangers fast shipping awesome company to work with and very knowledgeable

by:

Kit purchased to repalce damaged components on an existing 70's era trailer. The complete hanger kit was cheaper than purchasing the individual parts I needed. The hangers were not used but the equalizers, shackels, and bolts were direct replacements to restore my trailer to tip top shape. I added some nylon spring eye bushings to complete the job!

by:

Well, organize Internet, quick delivery thank you

by:

Rebuilding a 1995 Escort tandem axle boat trailer for a 24` Trophy. If anyone is rebuilding one, you know aftermarket parts are impossible to find as they are bolt on hangers. Had to slot out one of the holes on each bracket (didn't use equalizer bracket) to make it work and coated with galvanized spray paint. Did the trick but haven't reassembled suspension yet as parts are being sourced from 5 different companies.

by:

Good value for money, robust parts to refurbish my trailer. Have yet to assemble these spring lift parts. Thanks.

by:

this is a nice heavy duty product. I plan on adding an axle to my trailer. The existing axle is too far forward and I forced to load heave in the front to prevent sway. when the trailer is empty or evenly loaded I have to be on my P's & Q's to minimize the sway. I can just move the axle back but the extra capacity will be nice.

by:

Perfect application to give my trailer a cpl more inches of lift. Prior to installing the longer hangers, the frame would rest on the axles of my trailer. Now with these longer replacement hangers, that no longer happens. Very satisfied customer.

by:

I have ordered from Etrailer a few times now, The service is always great and fast shipping. They have the best prices around. Where I live I have 24 miles of rough dirt road so am always replacing parts on my trailers. Their products hold up to the test of my road. Always a perfect fit too!

by:

This hanger kit and leaf springs for my tandem boat trailer was PERFECT! I did one side at a time. Once we got the old crap off the trailer, reassembly was a snap. It took about three hours from start to finish. Most of the time was spend removing the frozen center bolt from the old equalizers. I'm very happy I opted for the two center bolts to be "wet bolts". Thanks again, I would definitely recommend etrailer to my friends. Regards, Bob

I spoke with Trevor, Thursday the 11th, I have 1set, 2 PCs, of shackle straps that are shorter than the other 6 shackle straps. I have been waiting for An email from Trevor, have not received it. Could I get the correct straps sent 2 PCs needed. Thanx

I am completely satisfied dealing with this company; best price, quality merchandise and prompt delivery. I would trust this company with my business, my wife, my whiskey and my money.

by:

Perfect replacement. Everything needed was included

by:

These were ok at best, two cracked within 9 months of installation requiring additional repair.

by:

Wondered about the order. After seeing your notification on delivery, had to go figure out where they had placed it. Was placed in the cab of the truck. Not a problem, just hadn't been in it for two weeks, and since I am blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, didn't see the delivery sticker on truck window.

Everything appears to be in order. Will put new parts on trailer next week. Oh, this is a two axle, two horse trailer.

Thanks

David T.

by:

I am impressed with the quality and the low price. I talked to some of the local trailer sales people about the same parts and they could not even come close, saying the price from etrailer was less than they could buy the for. The delivery was quick. The parts are heavy duty steel and complete with everything I need. I would not hesitate to purchase from these people again.

Super service and shipping. Part of shipment was lost by UPS and Etrailer made good and shipped me replacement before UPS even completed their review.

Great folks.

Thank you

  • Does it Matter Which Way a Double-Eye Trailer Leaf Spring Faces
If they are double-eye leaf springs, it should not matter which way they are facing. But if they are slipper springs, the eye end is at the front and the slipper is at the back. The springs that we carry are not marked as to which end is front and I have seen them either way on a trailer. I have included some links to suspension FAQs for you.

  • Why Do Suspension Hanger Kits Have Different Height Hangers
The varying heights of the hangers is all designed so that you end up with the leaf springs as level as possible and still end up a desired distance away from the trailer frame. It may seem odd, but the center hanger will stick down further because the shackle straps that attach to the equalizers make up for the height difference. The equalizer is there so there is movement between the axles going over bumps to help smooth things out. The # APT1 uses a very flat equalizer so to make up...

  • Hanger Distance for Installing 25-1/2 inch Leaf Springs with Hanger Kit # APT8
To determine the location for the front and rear hangers on your tandem axle trailer you will first need to make sure that you have the correct center point for your equalizer hanger. The center point of your equalizer hanger needs to be located where you will have 60 percent of the frame of the trailer in front of the center of the equalizer hanger and 40 percent behind the center of the equalizer hanger. • Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit Spacing for a Tandem Axle Trailer
I would need to know the axle capacities to be sure but I can venture an educated guess. The only tandem axle double-eye leaf spring hanger kit we have that includes 8 inch equalizers is # APT1. With this kit, the center of the forward hanger to the center of the rear hanger would be 29-1/2 inches. It is the same from the center hanger to the rear hanger on center. That would make the center to center distance between the 2 axles 34 inches. I have included a picture showing the measurements...

  • Recommended Tire to Fender and Tire Sidewall to Trailer Frame Clearance
The minimum distance between side wall of the tire and and trailer frame depends on the trailer, you definitely don't want the tire and the trailer to touch so 2" of clearance is a safe distance however you may be able to get away with less as long as they do not touch. The recommended clearance between the top of the tire and the fender is 3-4 inches when the suspension is fully compressed to accommodate for suspension travel.

  • How to Determine Trailer Leaf Spring Hanger Spacing
You can refer to the linked articles on trailer axle spacing and leaf spring suspensions to help you determine where to position your spring hangers on your tandem axle trailer build. Hanger spacing depends on axle placement and axle placement should be determined based on having the trailer's tongue weight in the appropriate 10- to 15-% range. As you work out the design for the trailer, it is best to have the layout of the trailer finalized before placing the axles. This will ensure that...

I believe you're talking about hangers when you gave those shackle dimensions. The closest we have to your front and rear are the # 115918 which are 2-3/8" tall. The closest thing we have to 6-3/4" is the 5-7/16"...

  • Are the Bushings Included in the APT1 Tandem-Axle Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs?
The bushings on the 2 long equalizers are included in the # APT1 kit, but the rest of the bushings will typically come included with the leaf springs that are not included in this kit. Which ones you will need to purchase would depend on the diameter sized hole in your leaf spring, if it does not already accommodate the 3/4 inch diameter of the bolts included into this kit. I have linked our bushings as well as the bushing that has a 3/4 inner diameter to this page for your convenience.

  • Will Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit # APT5 Fit a Trailer with 2-3/8 Inch Diameter Axle
You can use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT5 for your trailer with the 2-3/8 inch axle. A 2-3/8 inch diameter axle is typically found on 3,500 pound axles which is within the range of this kit (2,000 to 7,000 pound axles). The measurements in the chart on the page can be used as a guide. A better option for a 2-3/8 inch axle is kit # APT3, # AP233-H248, or # APT1. It all depends on the axle spacing, spring measurements, and equalizer length.
