Will The Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount AMSCV-2 Work On 2022 GMC 2500 For Towing 10,000 lb Trailer?

Question:
I have a 2022 GMC 2500 Denali. I need to pull my camper with the golf cart in the bed and tailgate down. Is this what I would need for a 10, 000 lb trailer so I can clear the tailgate?

Hey Amy, thanks for reaching out. The Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSCV-2 will absolutely work for a 10,000 lb trailer. This is for a 2-1/2" hitch so please confirm the hitch size on your GMC. I can't tell you with certainty if this will allow you to tow with the tailgate down, since I don't know what setup you are using currently.
The ball mount itself is 9" long from the hitch pin hole to the ball hole. What I would do is hook up the trailer and try to lower the tailgate. If stuff on the trailer tongue is obstructing the tailgate we need to determine how many more inches of clearance you would need. Then if you can tell me the length of your current ball mount, and how many more inches of clearance you need, we can try to find a replacement of appropriate length.

Hey Amy, what did you find when you tried lowering the tailgate with your trailer hooked up? Once you measured the clearance, were you able to figure out if the Convert-A-Ball ball mount gave you enough room? Your update could make it easier for others towing with a similar setup.
