Will B&W Companion Fit 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed

Question:

I have a 2006 GMC 2500 short bed with BW gooseneck flip over ball installed. Was looking at getting a BW companion slider and read somewhere that it will not work because my model truck was built with a slight crown in the bed making bed not level from front to back. Is this true?

Hi Eric; I'm not sure where you saw that but we have had other customers successfully install the # BWRVK3400-5W without any issues. If the design of the bed on your 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 would not allow the installation of the Companion we wouldn't list it as an option and B&W would have notes saying the Companion is not compatible. You can definitely use this 5th wheel hitch with your truck.

Hello Robin. I actually just put 4’ level on my bed and sure enough from front to back it is not perfectly level. Has a crown in the center. Will this affect anything about the hitch?

I guess what worries me are the rails on the bottom of the hitch will not be on contact with the bed. Only in the middle.

@Eric if that was the case then no standard rails or any other 5th wheel hitch would work with this truck. I think what you should do is get a gooseneck adapter since you do not think a 5th wheel hitch will work. This eliminates any possibility of a problem with a 5th wheel hitch not sitting level with this crown in your bed.
