Some covers jam, bind, or need constant adjustment to stay smooth. This one doesn’t. The RetraxONE MX uses sealed ball-bearing rollers that glide along the rails without lubrication or springs to fail. You can open or close it with one hand using the pop-up locking handle, and latch it at any point along the rails when you need partial bed coverage. When it’s rolled up, the cover stores neatly inside a space-saving canister that keeps it protected and out of the way.

Protects Gear from Weather and Theft: Locking, Weather-Tight Construction

Keeping tools and supplies dry and secure can be tough when rain or snow hit. The RetraxONE MX seals your truck bed with weather stripping and foam gaskets on all sides, plus an overlapping tailgate lip to block out water and dust. The flush-mounted locking handle sits flat against the cover under a protective lid, keeping it hidden from sight and safe from corrosion. Lock it closed with your tailgate latched and your cargo stays secure and out of view.

Built to Handle Real Workloads: Reinforced Lexan Panels

The cover is built from high-strength polycarbonate (Lexan) reinforced with 5/8" thick aluminum I-beams spaced every 4-3/4". It supports up to 200 lbs of evenly distributed weight while resisting dents and impacts from tools or debris. Designed to perform between -50 °F and 200 °F, it won’t crack in extreme cold or warp in heat. The matte black finish is UV-treated, scratch-resistant, and stays cooler to the touch than metal on hot days.

Keeps Your Bed Neat and Dry: Built-In Drain System

Water that gets inside the canister drains out through two included tubes rather than pooling or causing mildew. The spiral track system prevents the cover from rubbing on itself as it retracts, reducing wear over time. Video Transcript for Manufacturer Installation of the Retrax Tonneau Covers

Connect the front cover below the rails, using the front cover mounting screws. Pull the protective film off the spiral canister. Apply the rubber washers to the drain tub fittings, and connect the drain tubes to the 1/2" holes located on the bottom of the spiral canister. Once you've assembled the Retrax cover, two people should work together to lift the cover onto the truck bed. Once the cover is in place, insure that the weather strip on the front of the cover is laid out properly on top of the bulkhead of the pickup, pointing toward the cab. Close the tailgate, and using the measurement tool that is supplied, measure 1/8" between the bottom notch of the rail and the inside face of the closed tailgate.

Next, install the clamps. Start with the locations closest to the canister. The clamps are mounted between the rail adjustment screws. Then attach the rear set of clamps. Once the cover is secure, direct the drain tubes so that they drain water out of the truck bed. Drain holes vary on different makes and models of trucks.

Once finished, open and close the cover, making sure that it is rolling without binding. If needed, turn the rail adjustment screws so rails remain parallel. Pull off the protective film, and double-check that the keys and lock work properly. Now that the Retrax Retractable Bed Cover has been installed, you're ready to take it out on the road.

Great cover, not a minutes trouble after a year on the truck.

Everything was on time and good quality. Easy to install, but you need to open the lock before installing the rail. If the lock is in the lock or down position the rail won’t go on. Other than that it was easy and it looks great on the truck!

A little challenging at first with the directions but with my neighbor helping we pulled through. 3-4 hours of slow methodical reading and working. Very nice product looks great and works as advertised.

The unit shipped to my location with over a months delay. This was too late for our last camping trip of2 2021, which I was counting on using it. I installed this year instead. Some of the tapped holes need to be re-tapped. Also, drain plugs were a little tricky in that the hose interfered with that latching mechanism, so they did not latch correctly at first. The roll-up into the box does not seem as smooth as the videos seem to show. Roll down to close is smooth.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and durability. I like the ability to cover, lock and latch in partially closed position to help support large items. I'm sure I'm getting a little bit better gas mileage because of the drag reduction off the bed. The only drawback: the space that the canister takes up reduces your bed size. It hasn't impacted me yet as I have the larger bed size. If you have a bed extender, that will help. I definitely like the retractable better that the folding ones.

This is my second Retrax poly cover. i had my first one for about 10 years and it worked well the entire time. I finally purchased a new truck and had to pick another cover and picked this one again for the quality and durability.

It is a nice cover over all, install was quick and easy. However, the cover is a bit flimsy. While sitting there you can see slight high and low spots from one slat yi the next. And while driving the cover moves quite a bit in the wind. Had I known this i would have just paid the extra for the aluminum version. Like I said, it's a nice cover over all it just needs to be a little more rigid.
