Replacement Trailer Winch Recommendation for a Shelby 5460A

I need to replace a Shelby 5460a. Do you have anything similar with a higher weight rating and shorter handle?

Hey Chris,

I recommend checking out the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch w/ Automatic Brake # DL15761 which has a slightly higher weight rating at 2,500 lbs and has a 9-3/8" long handle. The handle is a bit long, but it's positioned on one end of the winch so it will hopefully work out better than your current setup.

If you want something with a higher weight rating we have the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch w/ Automatic Brake # DL24844 which has a 3,500 lb weight rating, but it does have the 12-1/4" long handle so it will be a on the longer end of handles.

Can I purchase a shorter handle and is there one available without a handbrake ? And in the larger one available without a handbrake and can I purchase a smaller handle.

@ChristopherW For those specs I recommend checking out the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL15440 and getting the Replacement Handle # DL70336 which is only 6" long as opposed to the 9-1/2" length that initially comes with the winch.

@JonG Does the winch come with mounting hardware? What is the part number for the 6 in handle and I need a winch strap as well. If you could supply these part numbers so I may order them. I also need a safety chain as mine is rusty and falling apart .

@ChrisW The winch doesn't come with mounting hardware. The Replacement Handle # DL70336 is the part number (you can click on the hyperlink). As far as safety chains go, I'm attaching a link to our selection for you to filter through. If you can let me know what the GVWR is of your boat trailer as well as the length of your current chains I can make a recommendation.
