Will the e-trailer Tow Bar Locks Work w/ Demco Tow Bars?

Updated 03/31/2025 | Published 11/19/2024

Question:

Will these e-trailer tow bar locks work on Demco 9511012 Commander tow Bar and the base plate for Ford Maverick Demco part 9519360. Or should I purchase the Demco brand lock system? Thank you

Yes, they will! The Lock Kit for etrailer and Demco Tow Bars item # e26ZR will work with both etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bars item # e34ZR and Demco ones like item # DM9511012. They are also compatible with the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit item # DM77YV that you're using with your Maverick.

I think the etrailer locks item # e26ZR are a far better option than the Demco Base Plate to Tow Bar Lock Kit item # DM9523067 because you get the hitch pin lock as well. Plus all three will be keyed alike. Saving a few dollars is going to be a nice perk too.

Jerred I’m getting ready to order etrailer locks item # e26ZR. I have a high /low adapter on my RV, so I will need a fourth lock. Is it possible to have all four locks keyed the same? Thank you

@JillC Yes, it is Jill! You'll want to purchase the etrailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches item # e98880 along with the Lock Kit for etrailer and Demco Tow Bars item # e26ZR. Before you click add to cart you'll need to select Keyed Alike on the drop down above the quantity option.

@JerredH Thanks. One last question. When I towed the Maverick with Demco tow bar in the past ( using high/low adapter) there was play in the hitch mount. Do I install the anti-rattle hitch on the RV at the high/low adapter mount? I’m trying to only have to install one. So not a second one between tow bar/ adapter. Which anti-rattle do you recommend with my set up? Thank you

@Jill’s My initial thought is to install it to where ever you're getting the most play in the receiver but typically the anti-rattles are installed on the tow vehicle's hitch receiver. The best one to use is going to be the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers item # e38FV.
