Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the lock kit for your tow bars. This is going to help to make sure that nobody can get to disconnect your towed vehicle from your RV, or take that tow bar. A lot of expensive components go into having a flat tow set up. So you want to protect that investment by getting some locks. So it's going to be a pretty simple system. You have one lock to go on the hitch side or the RV side of your tow bar.
And then the other two will go to the connection between your tow bar and your base plate. So it keeps all those things secure. Pretty simple to use. It comes with several keys, one for each of the lock cores, but they are keyed alike. So it ends up being several spares to make sure that you always have a way to get access into those keys. So it's pretty simple to use.
It's basically just kind of a threaded bolt that goes inside there. That's what locks it up. As you can see that, it's going to be the same for all three. This is going to be the one that goes through your hitch, the thicker one. This is 5/8 of an inch in diameter. The other two are 1/2 inch in diameter.
We'll give you some more measurements as far as the span and all that stuff. You could use this for any kind of etrailer, or Demco tow bar, or anything else that has that same sort of diameter for your tow bars. The span for the hitch pin is about 2 and 1/2 inches.About 2 and 1/2, 2 and 5/8. For our tow bar, it's about 2 and 1/8 inches. And, again, 1/2 inch diameter here, 5/8 inch diameter here.
Outer edge is about 5 and 3/4 inches. And here it's about 5 and 1/4.Again, they're all keyed alike and it does have a little dust cap to go over there, provide some protection for that lock core to make sure that it doesn't get rusted or corroded or just full of gunk and road grime and stuff like that. They are made in the USA. Sturdy steel construction with a chrome plating. So it should be pretty resistant to any kind of rust and things like that. And that's pretty much all there is to it for our kit here. If you want to get a second hitch lock that is available separately, if you have a high, low adapter, it's a pretty common component that goes in between the tow bar and your hitch on your RV just to allow for the difference in height between your towed vehicle and the RV.So, again, if you need another hitch lock, those are available separately here at etrailer.com and you can find that part number listed on the product page here. So I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right lock set for you. We do have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com along with all kinds of parts and accessories for your RVs and flat tow setups especially. So check them out. Thanks for watching.
