Why Can't you Use an Advent A/C on a Utility Trailer, and what Air Conditioner Can you Use?

Question:
Why isnt this unit approved for utility trailers? What does that mean - it is dangerous somehow in that environment? I have a 24foot car hauler and need a reasonably-priced AC for it. Thanks!

Hello Doug.
Advent does not recommend installing their A/C units on utility trailers, school buses, food trucks, or off-roading vehicles due to the roof not having enough support. You could always install the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System w/ Start Capacitor - 13,500 Btu - White # ASA69YR on your utility trailer just as long as the roof is 2-1/2" to 5" thick, and framed up to support the weight of the A/C which is a little less than 80lbs. However, ASA/Advent will void the warranty if their units are installed on utility trailers, school buses, food trucks, or off-roading vehicles.
With that being said, Furrion does not void the warranty if installed on a utility trailer. So you might want to consider the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 13,500 Btu - White # FR52PR. It a little more pricey, but you would have the warranty for 2 years on both the AC and the Air Distribution Box. You just want to make sure you have it framed up to support the 76 lbs that this unit weighs.

My trailer is designed and pre-wired for addition of an AC, and I’m sure in 2016 they weighed more than 80 pounds. So it makes no sense that it would not be warranted - it isn’t a utility trailer, it is a car hauler - does that matter? Thanks!
