Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple. Most AC units are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't needed. Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

In order to fully complete installation, this AC needs to be paired with a 2025 or newer Advent Air air distribution box and thermostat.

Additional Accessories

Additional accessories can be purchased separately to improve the performance of your Advent Air AC unit. The start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) improves the performance of your AC by using stored energy to help start it. And the electric heat strip (ACMHD) removes the chill on cold or frosty mornings in your RV, ensuring you stay comfortable. Please note that the heat strip will only work on Advent Air AC units.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), you'll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Works great! My only issue is the knobs won't fit? They fall off i guess they have to be glued?

Glad to hear it's working well for you! To what knobs are you referring to though? This is just the rooftop unit and there shouldn't be any knobs. Are they on the air distribution box?

  • What Advent Air Conditioner Set-Up Do I Need to Replace My Dometic 13,500 BTU?
Hello Mike, Great question. The RV air conditioner went from the R410a to the R32 this year. The new R32 parts are not compatible with the old R410a parts. The R32 is more efficient making it a win-win for the environment and the consumer. The downfall, you need a whole new system. You were looking at the manual air distribution box, I have a much better option for you. I recommend going with the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - White - R32 # ADV95SR....

  • Replacement AC Unit for 2001 Airstream Bambi
Thanks for reaching out Tim. I don't have a way to confirm exactly which air conditioner is currently installed on your 2001 Airstream Bambi, but I'm guessing it's a non-ducted, lower-BTU unit that uses the older R410A refrigerant. Beginning in 2025, the industry transitioned to R32 refrigerant, and the newer R32 rooftop units are not backward compatible with the older R410A air distribution boxes and control systems. Because of that, you'll most likely need to replace the entire A/C...

  • Air Conditioner Replacement Recommendation for Coleman Mach in RV
Hey Chris, nothing we offer would attach to the lower vent assembly of your Coleman Mach and allow you to reuse it and the current controls you have but we do have complete replacement setups that would work great if that's what you'd be interested in. The best option would be the Furrion Chill Cube kit part # FR69TD which comes with everything including air distribution box, thermostat, etc. The Cube is by far the coldest and quietest option available and also it has a built in soft...

  • Recommended Air Conditioner for 28' Car Trailer
Hi Arik; a 13,500 Btu unit like the # ADV96SR you looked at will be able to handle your car trailer. The Advent Air units do a great job without breaking the bank so I do recommend them. Unfortunately, none of our air conditioners are American made. Since this is a new installation you will need the # ADV23SR. This includes the air distribution box with controls like you want, along with the star capacitor. The heat strip is available separately # ADV34QR. The unit fits 14-1/4" long x...

  • How Loud Is The 13,500 Btu Advent Air RV Air Conditioner ADV96SR?
Hi Sherrill! The Advent Air 13.5k RV Air Conditioner # ADV96SR have a decibel rating of 76, so roughly the sound of a fairly loud vacuum cleaner. One thing to also be aware of, this is only the roof top unit and it does not include the other components to get it working. Unless your current AC system was made in 2025 or later, that is. Anything prior to 2025 used a different coolant (R410a) and those components will not work with the new stuff. So with that said, if you do have one of...

  • Solution for Needing Replacement RV AC Unit for Dometic
Hey Michael, we can help but we don't have any RV AC unit top units that are going to work with the air distribution box you have currently. At one point we thought the Advent Air top units worked with Dometic ADBs but that is not true. So you'd need to replace the entire system like with the # ADV25SR or see if Dometic could get you the upper unit you are in need of.

  • Replacement AC for 1998 Fleetwood Bounder
Hey W.F.! If you're looking for a 13.5k Btu unit like the Advent Air # ADV96SR that is a good option but you're going to have to replace the entire system. Everything moved to the new R32 refrigerant in 2025 due to EPA regulations, and these AC units aren't backwards compatible with the old R410A setups. Since you have a ducted setup you need the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV95SR. This comes with the AC system, thermostat, start capacitor, and air distribution box. A 15k Btu...

  • Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Replace Dometic
Hey Jason, we can help but we no longer recommend trying to fit an Advent AC upper unit to a Dometic lower unit. At one point we thought it was compatible but we found that only about 50 percent time it worked well. Plus they recently switched to a new refrigerant which means it definitely won't work. So instead you'd want the part # ADV65SR which is a kit that includes all new components like you'd need. This will for sure work well for you.

  • Replacement RV AC Unit Recommendation for 2009 Keystone VR1 305FKS
Hey Trace, so I have an Advent Air solution that would work for you but the part # ADV96SR is just the top portion of the AC unit and it is not compatible with the Dometic you have now. You would need to go with a kit that has a replacement lower unit as well. For that I would recommend the part # ADV75SR for if you prefer a ceiling control setup or the part # ADV85SR for if you prefer a wall mounted thermostat. Both kits come with everything needed to install.

  • Replacement AC Unit for a 2003 Coachmen Somerset 5th Wheel
Hey Bill. You won't need to replace the wiring but the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner item # ADV96SR has the new R32 refrigerant so it will not be backwards compatible with any of your existing components. You would also need to replace the thermostat and air distribution box. For this you'll want the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System item # ADV52SR. Do you have a furnace in your 5th wheel trailer?

Hey Shawn! The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner item # ADV96SR you purchased has the new R32 refrigerant in it so you are going to need a new air distribution box. I recommend the Air Distribution Box item # ADV48SR. This one is set up for a ductless orientation where the air exits directly below the AC unit through vents in the box. Hello Joshua, Thanks for writing in! Since you used the word best, let me introduce you to the Furrion Chill Cube Variable Speed RV AC System with ADB & Remote - 18K Btu - Non-Ducted - White - R32 # FR59TD.
