What are the Fittings Made Of on 25 Inch Titan Hydraulic Flexible Brake Line with Fittings

Updated 06/02/2014 | Published 05/30/2014

Question:

Why are the male and female ends different colors? Are they also different metals? I ordered a pair for a LoadRite trailer, but NOT for the purpose of connecting brake line to actuator master cylinder, as advertised for this item. Rather, the length and fittings and flexibility are a match for replacing the flexible brake hose between the metal line and disc brake caliper on this trailer. Am I correct that this part can be used for that application? Thanks.

You are correct. Flexible brake line # T0980100 can be used in any part of a hydraulic braking system including going from the caliper to the metal line like you want.

The ends are different. The more brass-looking one is zinc-plated steel. The other end is steel. My contact at Titan believed it to be stainless steel but could not verify that with the technical data for the product. This same part and design has been around since the 1970s so it is a commonly used part in trailer braking systems since that time through the present.
