Question:
Good morning, I have a 40’ flat bed trailer, 10k pounds axes and I’m considering change the break system from electrics to hydraulics, could you please tell me if this part will be suitable for me, the trailer is a 2022 40’ flatbed gooseneck, thanks

Hi Arnel; the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR10-13-HD is specific to 10k ALKO axles with a #99 spindle. You have a 2022 trailer so I'm sure you do not have ALKO axles since they were discontinued quite a while ago.
Assuming you have leaf springs, you may be able to use the # K2R1058D11E along with the Dexter Oil Hub for 9K to 10K General Duty Axles - After April 2013 # 008-430-03. The hub uses the # 387A inner and # 25580 outer bearing so I would make sure that matches your axle.
You will also need the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HBA16. Then for brake lines you can use the # HS496-252 for tandem or # HS496-253 for triple axles.

Hey Arnel, how did the switch from electric to hydraulic brakes go on your 40' flatbed trailer? Were the Kodiak kit and Hydrastar actuator a good match for your setup? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar trailers.
