5 inch or 7 inch Drop Version of B and W Tow & Stow Adjustable Ball Mount for 2015 Buick Enclave

Updated 10/17/2024 | Published 10/14/2024

Question:

Hello, I have a 2015 Buck Enclave premium. I purchased an etrailer 2inch receiver from you earlier this year. Its worked out great so far. Im interested in the 3 ball B and W tow and stow hitch. I was looking at the 7inch model. Would that be too much? Should I go with the 5? Or will the 7inch work fine? Im going to be towing a 6x12 trailer with a single axle. Thank you and Im looking forward to your forthcoming response. Regards, Gary

Hey Gary, for your application I would go with the 5 inch drop version part # BWTS10048B over the 7 inch drop part # BWTS10049B. I don't think you'll encounter a trailer that would require that much drop and it would potentially cause ground clearance issues and just be overall heavier and more expensive for no advantage.

Hello Jameson C., I did have one more concern/question. With the description of the vehicle and trailer listed previously, would it be necessary or recommended to have either an anti-sway device and/or a weight distribution device on my trailer? My vehicle comes in roughly at 4700 lbs. My trailer will be roughly 1370 lbs. Cargo in trailer will be roughly be 700-800 lbs. I'm hauling from Stafford, VA to Lancaster, PA. Roughly a 3 hour drive. I'll have my weight distributed properly. 60% in the front and 40% in the back of the trailer. On one hand I was told that if your trailer and cargo is over 3500 lbs, then I would need those devices. Mainly for heavy RV campers. Max I'll ever be is 2500 lbs. But I was also told, that if you're driving long distances and not use to towing, that it would be recommended to have the anti-sway device. Keep in mind that my trailer is a single axle. Just wanted your input and recommendations. Thanks again. Have a great day! Regards, Gary

@Gary I wouldn't say either of what you mentioned is a requirement. At the weight you listed I think you'll be fine. Plus if you wanted to go with a sway control you wouldn't be able to use the Andersen part I mentioned. I think with a properly leveled trailer that has the tongue weight at least 10 percent of the total trailer weight you'll be good.
