Question:
Hi. What are the differences between 65033 and 31320? They are both similar in price and have the same weight capacities from what I see. Is there clearance or install differences? I will be installing on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4 door short-bed to push appox. 5k pound travel trailer up a very steep driveway. Thank you!

Hi Brad,
Yes, the Draw-Tite # 65033 sits much lower to clear the air dam, while the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31320 sits higher, requiring you to trim the air dam. These both have a 5,000lb capacity so you should definitely make sure your trailer is under that.
If it isn't then you should go with an adjustable-fit weld-on hitch instead to ensure you have the capacity to handle the trailer. You can measure the frame width and measure down to where you have space for the receiver tube to come out. We offer the following drop sizes:
Draw-Tite
7" Drop # 41990-07
16" Drop # 41990-16
Curt
3" Drop # 15901
9" Drop # C47CR
10.865" Drop # 15902
11-1/2" Drop # 15903
18" Drop # C99CR
These will fit an 18" to 44" wide frame width and any excess can just be trimmed off of the crosstube.
That's also a lot of weight on the front suspension so you could end up dragging on the ground if the hill is super steep. It might be a good idea to install a support spring # TDF15002C (2WD models) or # CSS-1168F (4WD models) to offset the trailer's tongue weight.

Hey Brad, how did things go with the front hitch on your Ram for moving that 5,000‑pound trailer up the driveway? I’m curious if the clearance difference between the Draw‑Tite and Curt hitches made one a better fit. Your update could make it easier for others working with similar setups.
