Are Additional Mounting Bolts Required For Curt X5 Gooseneck To 5th Wheel Adapter Rails

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/29/2024

Question:

Question regarding curt x5 gooseneck to 5th wheel plate. I have curt gooseneck in my 04 f350 and I am curious do I need to bolt the plate down or does it only attach to the gooseneck? Thank you, Damien

Hey Damien,

The Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # 16310 would be secured only by the pin in the B&W Turnoverball hitch and would not require additional bolts to mount it. The latching pin would be enough to hold the adapter in place and tow, adding additional bolts would defeat its purpose of being easy to install and remove as needed.

These adapters are hitch-specific so if you have a Curt double-lock gooseneck hitch you'll want the # C16210 instead. If you have a Curt EZr Double-Lock gooseneck hitch then you'll want the # C16220.

Hey Damien, how did things go with the Curt X5 adapter for your F-350’s gooseneck hitch? Did the pin connection hold securely without needing any extra bolts? Your update could make it easier for others setting up the same adapter.
