Trailer Hitch for 2024 Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered T8

Question:

For some reason Volvo does not recommend any trailer hitch on the V60 Polestar T8 model, something about the battery/gas engine hybrid system. This is why they do not offer a factory hitch for this model. Do you have any information or comments on that? Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan; it looks like the 2024 Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered T8 is the same as the Recharge. I'm not sure where you heard that about a hitch so I would double check that information. Typically when we get a question like this the owner's manual for the vehicle says something like "do not use this vehicle for towing." When I checked the Recharge manual online it lists a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs with brakes and a 200 lb max tongue weight. Make sure you take a look at your owner's manual to confirm this.

Based on that information it sounds like they aren't saying a hitch should not be used on the vehicle. Sometimes with hybrids a hitch design is difficult because of battery placement and wiring in the rear. This might be why they chose to not make a factory hitch. Might have been that they could but it wasn't cost effective, could be something else entirely. However, the Stealth Hitches # SH47FR is a confirmed fit for the 2024 V60 Recharge so you will be able to install it and carry accessories up to your 200 lb max tongue weight.

I am taking delivery of a 2025 Volvo V60 T8 (Polestar Engineered) wagon and need a trailer hitch 2” receiver. I don’t intend to tow, but do want it for my bike rack. What would you recommend? Thanks!

@EdM the Stealth Hitches option above was the only available hitch for the 2024. We have not had a chance to test one on the 2025 and the manufacturer only lists through 2024 so at this time we can't confirm the hitch will fit your 2025 Volvo V60 T8. If there hasn't been a redesign odds are it will fit we just can't guarantee it until it is tested or confirmed by the manufacturer. I would check back periodically to see if it is updated.

@EdM not sure if you're still waiting but I wanted to follow up on this. Stealth Hitches now specifically lists the 2025 Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered as a fit for the SH47FR listed above so we can confirm it will fit your vehicle.
