Camera System on a 2019 Jayco Pinnacle 5W Goes Dark When turn Signals are Applied

Updated 08/09/2024 | Published 08/05/2024

Question:

I have a 2017 Chevrolet LTZ 3500 I use to tow a 2019 Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel. when I turn either turn signal on and than apply the breaks the monitor goes dark/black. I was wondering if the Lippert2021132201 7 way adaptor with power switch will solve this problem. Thank you in advance Richard Shaw

Richard that does sound like there is a power issue there, so what I'd do is use the Furrion 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR. This adapter gets plugged directly into your vehicle's 7-way and should provide the additional power needed to power your cameras and monitor to function properly.

Before that though, I'd verify that you have enough power going to the monitor and that all your connections are still in tact and not damaged. It also wouldn't hurt to check your grounds as well. This way you can rule out everything else and be sure it's a power supply issue.

Hello Bryce, Would a jumper wire from the house battery to the side marker light cameras be the same as using a FR87PR as you recommended to deliver enough 12 volt power. Why I ask this is because of my truck being 2017 VS a 2019 and newer where the FR87PR comes into play to help suppling 12 volt power needed. If The vehicle power adaptor didn't supply enough power because of the pin relocation by GM my purchase would be for nothing. Again Thank You Bryce!!

@Richard It's not quite the same thing Riachard. This adapter Interfaces with your vehicle's power management software to provide the correct level of 12-volt power to your RV cameras, so it's a bit different than just running a wire from the battery.
