Solution to Help Keep Tires From Rubbing on 2019 Keystone Cougar on Rough Roads  

Question:

My measurements for this spring are 25 1/2inch for C and 2 5/8inch for D. Is this considered in spec or do I need to replace? 2019 Keystone Couger half ton 5th wheel 25RE There are rub marks on the wheel arches but I dont know if this is just from the terrible roads in California, Arizona and New Mexico

Hey Brian, thanks for reaching out!

The measurements you have are similar to the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,400-lb Trailer Axles # DX95CR so it sounds like your leaf springs aren't flattening out as of yet.

If you drive on some pretty rough roads with the trailer close to max GVWR then that could definitely be why you're seeing tire marks. I recommend checking out the SumoSprings Jounce Springs for trailers to help soften the bounce from those roads. You'll just need to choose the correct kit for your style and weight rating:

- 3K-5K Overslung # TSS-107-40
- 5K-8K Overslung # SS26MV

- 3K-5K Underslung # TSS-106-40
- 5K-8K Underslung # SS33HR

Overslung means the leaf springs are above the axle while underslung means the leaf springs are under the axle.
