Is Only One Side of the Yakima OverHaul HD Ladder Rack Locking

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/03/2024

Question:

I have a 2022 ford maverick. I just purchased and installed a Yakima baseline rack 1 crossbar for the cab and overhaul HD ladder rack two towers/1 crossbar for the bed. I pieced together the system from replacement parts with the help of an etrailer sales rep. I got one locking base plate and one no -locking base for the overhaul HD rack. I was wondering if I can use a locking base plate on the other bed rail meaning instead of using a non locking base, use another locking base so that I could lock both sides. The product description says the locking base is only for the driver side but it seems you can put it on either side.

Hey Rob, the locking part # Y36AV only does fit the driver side and the passenger side part # Y56AV is non-locking. With one leg of the rack locked though you wouldn't have to worry about it getting removed and stolen though.

Hey Rob, did the locking base for your OverHaul HD rack end up working the way you wanted on your Maverick? Your experience could help others trying to secure both sides of their setup.
