Can 28 Series Kwikee Single Step Be Replaced with 32 Series Kwikee Double Step

Question:

I have a Kwikee series 28 single step on my class c and want to install a 2 step unit. Looking at series 32 unit. Will it fit. Do I need a new controller

Hey Paul, thanks for reaching out!

The 32 Series Kwikee Steps, like part # LC3722617, will be compatible with the controller from your 28 Series depending on how old it is (let me know and I'll check).

When it comes to getting a 2-step version to replace your 1-step version it generally can't be done just because of the lack of space when the step extends, but I'm attaching some dimensional photos of the steps I referenced above so you can compare that to your setup to see if it will work or not.

Thanks for the answer. The date code indicates a 2017 manufacture date. Current part is Kwikee step controller 1800709 The RV has the front wheels raised 4 inches to level it. So the distance from mounting plate to the ground should not be issue. Its about 17.5 inches without the front wheels on the ramps.

@PaulD Thanks for the extra info! The controller you have is the Control Unit # LC379146 which is compatible with both the Kwikee 28 Series and 32 Series steps. As long as the mounting specs of the step I mentioned above will fit with your spacing then you'll be good to go. From what I'm seeing, the mounting spacing might be slightly different so you may need to install the Outrigger Brackets # LC301704 to get everything to match up.
