I'm planning on using this to get my kid's bikes to the park. Will I need an adapter bar for the bikes?

Most kids bikes will require an adapter bar to fit on the Benton ShiftShow Bike Rack # B94FR, yes. If you plan on going this route then I recommend picking up the Adapter Bar # MPG2165 for any bikes that have little to no room between the frame.

If all 4 bikes need an adapter bar then you might consider using the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR4000 instead. This has a higher upfront cost and is heavier, but if you factor in the cost of the adapter bars and how difficult the SS will be to load multiple bikes on, I think you'll ultimately be happier with the Destination.
