Question:
I have the exact same question. Does this work with the Yakima turn to tighten hitch lock mechanism? It does not allow for a pin to go all the way through

Hi Kyle; I see what you're saying with an adapter. Although the mechanism to tighten it would keep it secure in some hitch reducers the only thing holding the bike rack and the adapter into the 2" receiver on your vehicle would be that safety pin which really isn't secure.
However, a reducer like the # HT02 has two different hitch pin holes. The Dr.Tray will be able to work with this since the first hole secures the adapter to the hitch and the second would allow for the safety pin from the bike rack. With the reducer held in place by a hitch pin and the anti-rattle mechanism holding the bike rack in the 1-1/4" receiver it will be completely secure.
